Best CBD Brands By Category

If you’re looking for specific products, low prices, or other requirements, take a look at our list of the best CBD brands by category.

Lowest Prices

If price is your top concern, we recommend choosing one of these brands:

  1. Lazarus Naturals: the undisputed leader in high-quality, affordable CBD. It’s my favorite CBD brand with the most potent products I’ve personally tested. You can also get a further 60% off if you qualify for the company’s assistance program.
  2. cbdMD: One of the biggest names in CBD, cbdMD offers low prices and an additional 25% off by subscribing. There’s also a 40% discount for military and other qualifying individuals.
  3. Alliant Hemp: Oregon’s Alliant Hemp is known for having exceptionally low prices. It has a straightforward lineup of full-spectrum and isolate CBD oil, capsules, and salves. It’s one of the most popular CBD brands on reddit because many people like its low prices and noticeable benefits.
  4. JustCBD: This company has some of the lowest prices in the CBD industry and is particularly popular for its cheap CBD gummies. But you should be aware that the quality is not quite as good as leading brands, so you get what you pay for.

Organic

While most CBD companies claim to use organic hemp to make their products, there’s only one way to ensure you’re actually getting organic CBD: the USDA organic seal.

This seal is difficult to get for CBD products because over 95% of the ingredients must be organic and made through organic-certified processes.

Leading brands that offer at least several USDA-organic products include:

  1. Lazarus Naturals
  2. R&R CBD
  3. Upstate Elevator Supply Co.
  4. Cornbread Hemp
  5. Harmony CBD
  6. Joy Organics

Delta-8 & Delta-9 THC

Hemp-derived THC has grown incredibly popular, mainly because it offers a legal alternative to marijuana in states where it’s illegal. Our top pick for this category is Hometown Hero CBD.

Hailing from Austin, Texas, this brand specializes in a wide array of intoxicating hemp products, including delta-8 and delta-9 THC edibles and tinctures.

The brand is committed to quality and transparency, sourcing its hemp from a sustainable farm in Texas and undergoing rigorous in-house and third-party testing.

Notably, Hometown Hero is also a socially responsible company, advocating for the legality of delta-8 THC in Texas and donating a portion of every sale to veteran organizations

Hemp Flower

Smoking CBD-rich hemp flower is a great way to get the whole-plant benefits of hemp. While many vendors offer CBD flowers online, Plain Jane is one of the cheapest and most popular options.

Based in Southern Oregon, it’s carved out a niche as a go-to vendor for affordable CBD hemp flower. The brand boasts an expansive variety of hemp strains and has garnered thousands of positive Trustpilot reviews, reinforcing its reputation in the market.

CBN & CBG

Products containing minor cannabinoids like CBN and CBG have been growing in popularity. CBN is most commonly used in sleep aids, while CBG is preferred for daytime use. Only a few brands have a wide variety of high-quality CBN and CBG products, including:

  1. Extract Labs: CBN, CBG, and other minor cannabinoid tinctures, gummies, and capsules
  2. CBDistillery: CBN & CBG tinctures, gummies, and capsules

Multi-Ingredient Botanical Formulas

Do you enjoy botanical dietary supplements like turmeric, ashwagandha, and medicinal mushrooms? The following brands do a good job of combining CBD with these time-tested remedies:

  1. Kiara Naturals: Kiara Naturals adds a wide variety of medicinal herbs and mushrooms to its CBD products
  2. Brothers Apothecary: This boutique Oregon brand stands out for its innovative combinations of CBD and other natural supplements in the form of capsules, tea, honey, snacks, and many other edibles made with local, organic ingredients.
  3. Raw Botanics: This boutique CBD brand combines CBD, CBN, and CBG with functional mushrooms and herbs for specific benefits like sleep and energy.

Non-Hemp CBD

Not a fan of cannabis/hemp, or want to be absolutely sure there’s zero THC in your products? Check out Peels CBD, a unique brand founded by NFL veteran Chris Hetherington that sources CBD from orange peels rather than hemp.

Worldwide Shipping

While CBD is relatively easy to access in the US, UK, and some other countries, that’s not necessarily the case everywhere. If you live in a country with a small or non-existent CBD market, like Australia, it can be difficult to find a vendor.

That’s when you can turn to international brands that ship CBD products worldwide. Your best options are:

  1. Kiara Naturals: A Swiss brand that ships to most countries around the world, with free or cheap and relatively fast shipping to many places.
  2. Endoca: One of the world’s oldest and most respected CBD brands, Denmark’s Endoca ships to most countries.
  3. NuLeaf Naturals: A pioneer of the American CBD industry, NuLeaf ships to most countries.
  4. R&R CBD: Another high-quality Colorado brand, R&R offers potent products, many of which are also fully certified organic by the USDA.
  5. Extract Labs: ships to almost every country and has a huge product variety, but you do need to spend over $200 to qualify for free shipping.
is cbd legal in all us states

Best CBD By Region

United States

The US has the world’s biggest and most competitive CBD market, so it’s no surprise that you have access to the best brands. Your five best options are:

  1. Lazarus Naturals
  2. R&R CBD
  3. Upstate Elevator Supply Co.
  4. CBDistillery
  5. Charlotte’s Web

Want to support your state’s local CBD company? Here are some solid brands you can find in your state:

Canada

Canada has a fairly unique CBD market. Technically speaking, only products made by government-licensed producers (LPs) are legal. But there are also dozens of unlicensed brands selling CBD oil, gummies, and other products. Our top-rated Canadian CBD brands are:

  1. CBDNorth: Vancouver-based company using local hemp.
  2. CBDMagic: Another popular Canadian vendor with a large variety of products.

The United Kingdom

The British CBD market is the largest after the US. However, the laws surrounding CBD and hemp are more restrictive. For example, you can’t grow hemp for flowers in the UK, CBD products are limited to 0.2% THC (versus the 0.3% used in the US and EU), and hemp flower is illegal. The best British CBD companies are:

  1. Provacan: A leading British CBD company known for high-quality, scientifically-backed products. Developed in collaboration with Israeli cannabis research organization CiiTECH, Provacan offers a wide range of CBD products, including oils, topicals, and edibles.
  2. Holistic Hemp Scotland: A reputable vendor based in Scotland, Holistic Hemp offers a unique lineup of whole-plant CBD products that includes raw CBD oil, CBD paste, CBD honey, and even hemp tea. This brand is a great choice if you’re looking for CBD products that are as close to natural as possible.
  3. Jersey Hemp: The only British brand to grow and extract its own hemp. This is because the island of Jersey is not considered part of the UK. If you’re looking for CBD products sourced from local hemp, this is your only option at the moment.

The Rest of Europe

The European CBD market is characterized by increasing consumer demand and shifting rules and regulations.

Although you can find the same variety of products as you would in the US, the confusing laws and disparities across EU member states are a challenge for CBD brands. If you want to buy CBD in Europe, we recommend:

  1. Endoca: As we’ve highlighted earlier, Denmark’s Endoca is arguably the number one CBD brand in Europe and one of the best in the world.
  2. Cibdol: With over 16,000 positive customer reviews on Trustpilot, Switzerland’s Cibdol is one of Europe’s most popular and reputable CBD brands. It sells CBD oil, capsules, and topicals in many strengths and formulas.
  3. Dutch Natural Healing: This Dutch CBD brand has operated since 2005. DNH produces a wide range of third-party tested products, including CBD oils, tinctures, and topicals, and emphasizes the use of natural, organic ingredients. The very first CBD oil I ever tried (in 2017) was from DNH.
Most of the CBD products we tried and tested in 2022.

How I Rate CBD Companies

When I review CBD brands, I typically buy several products (or ask for samples) and test them for a few weeks. I use that together with an assessment of the company’s reputation, third-party test reports, and other information to give it a score in five areas:

  • Products: How effective are the company’s products? Are there multiple categories (oils, capsules, topicals, gummies, etc.) with different strengths, formulas, and flavors to meet everyone’s needs?
  • Price & Value: I compare the company’s product prices ($ per mg of CBD) with what’s considered average for the industry. I also consider free shipping deals, assistance & subscription programs, and other ways to save.
  • Hemp Quality: How and where is the company’s hemp grown? Is it certified organic? Does the company do everything in-house? Does it have third-party certifications like USDA-organic or US Hemp Authority?
  • Third-Party Testing: Does the company send its products for independent potency and contaminant testing and provide up-to-date test results on its website? Do the test results match the advertised levels of CBD and other cannabinoids? Do the test reports show good levels of minor cannabinoids and potentially terpenes?
  • Customer Service & Reputation: Does the company have positive customer reviews? What’s its overall reputation in the industry? Does it have a commendable mission or donate to good causes? Does the company reveal details about who runs it, the production process, and other helpful details?

A Little Research Goes a Long Way

The CBD market is filled with hundreds of companies. However, the industry is not strongly regulated, and the level of quality among these brands can vary drastically.

That’s why it’s important to do your due diligence to identify high-quality CBD companies by checking their reviews, third-party test results, transparency, prices, and other factors.

You’ll end up not only getting a more effective product but also saving money.
