Founded in 2014 in Colorado, NuLeaf Naturals is one of the pioneers of the American CBD industry.

For a long time, it sold only one product — full-spectrum CBD oil. It’s arguably the most trusted CBD tincture on the market, with over 20,000 satisfied reviews. Since then, NuLeaf has expanded into capsules, gummies, and topicals, as well as minor cannabinoid formulas. 

NuLeaf only sells full-spectrum products without any additives, highlighting its focus on effective, as close to natural as possible remedies. It controls every step of the production process, starting with growing organic hemp in Colorado.

Oils

Full-Spectrum CBD Oil

This CBD oil only has two ingredients: full-spectrum hemp extract and organic hemp seed oil. That’s why it has a strong hempy flavor that some people may find off-putting. It also holds the distinction of having arguably the most reviews of any CBD tincture on the market. 

However, the minor cannabinoid amounts are a little low (~7%) on the latest test report.

My experience: NuLeaf’s full-spectrum CBD oil was one of the first CBD products I ever tried. It had noticeable relaxing and uplifting effects.

CBN Full Spectrum Oil

This is the cannabinol (CBN) version of NuLeaf’s full-spectrum CBD oil. CBN is a minor cannabinoid touted for its sleep-promoting effects. All ingredients are exactly the same; the only difference is that CBN is the major cannabinoid rather than CBD. It contains 10% cannabinoids aside from CBN, which is great.

Our experience: Our product reviewer Antonio liked the natural taste and ingredients. He took 180 mg (3 droppers), started to feel drowsy an hour later, and slept better. He felt groggy the next morning so he took 120 mg the next time and woke up more rested. He said the oil was more potent than the CBN gummies. 

CBG Full Spectrum Oil

This tincture is rich in cannabigerol (CBG), a minor cannabinoid that’s typically taken for uplifting, mood-boosting effects, pain relief, and potentially energy/focus.

Our experience: Antonio took 3 full droppers (~180 mg) of the tincture. The only effect he experienced is increased appetite (which is also shown by research studies). He liked the natural nutty, grassy hemp seed taste.

CBC Full Spectrum Oil

Cannabichromene (CBC) is yet another minor cannabinoid. We don’t know too much about its effects due to a lack of research but NuLeaf’s reviews mention pain relief and improved focus, motivation, and cognition.

Delta 8 Full Spectrum Oil

This version of the tincture is rich in delta-8 THC, the weaker but still intoxicating version of regular THC. That’s why it has a weaker potency than NuLeaf’s other oils.

Multicannabinoid Full Spectrum Oil

This unique tincture combines equal amounts of CBD, CBC, CBN, and CBG, with a second version that also adds delta-8 THC. This is an innovative product that I’m keen to try out at some point. 

Gummies

CBD Full Spectrum Gummies

NuLeaf’s gummies are made with all-natural and organic ingredients. They come in four flavors: blueberry, lemon, orange, and strawberry. They have the highest minor cannabinoid levels of any gummies I’ve seen: a whopping 33%! That’s impressive.

Our experience: Antonio liked the organic ingredients and enjoyed the strawberry flavor and texture. He took several gummies during high-stress days and experienced subtle calming effects starting about 90 minutes after consumption. But he thought they could use less sugar.

CBD:CBN 3:1 Full Spectrum Gummies

These gummies have a different formula, combining 15 mg of CBD with 5 mg of CBN. They’re designed for sleep and relaxation. You can choose from mixed berry and goji berry flavors. 

Our experience: Antonio liked the flavor, although he felt the strawberry full-spectrum one was better. He took 8 gummies before bed on multiple occasions, feeling drowsiness 90 minutes later and sleeping through the entire night with few disruptions and more vivid dreams.

Delta 9 THC Full Spectrum Gummies

If you’re looking for something with a stronger kick, you can try these legal delta-9 THC gummies. They’re made with the same great ingredients as the other gummies and contain impressive levels of cannabinoids; you’re getting not just 5 mg THC but also ~4 mg CBG, ~2 mg CBD, and ~2 mg CBN.

Softgels

This is the capsule version of NuLeaf’s full-spectrum oils, containing the same ingredients inside a gelatin capsule. Again, you can choose from regular CBD plus CBN, CBG, CBC, and multicannabinoid formulas. These capsules carry impressive levels of minor cannabinoids.

Full-Spectrum CBD Balm

This straightforward balm has only two ingredients: full-spectrum hemp extract and organic shea butter. I like the CBD strength and simplicity.

CBD Full Spectrum Pet Oil

This pet CBD oil is identical to the human version: the same ingredients and strength. But since dogs and cats require smaller doses of CBD, you should be careful with the dosage. I recommend starting with 1 or 2 drops and slowly increasing over time until you notice the desired effects in your four-legged companion. 

Price & Value

The easiest way to compare the value of CBD products is to divide the total cost by the amount of CBD. For example, if you have a 1500 mg CBD oil that costs $100, its price per milligram (mg) of CBD would be 100/1500 = $0.07. 

You also have to consider that the prices vary by product type. Here’s the breakdown of NuLeaf’s prices:

Hemp Source and Production Process

NuLeaf Naturals is vertically integrated, which means it does everything in-house. It grows organic hemp in Colorado and extracts it with subcritical and supercritical carbon dioxide (CO2), a leading method of full-spectrum CBD extraction. 

Next, the resulting full-spectrum extracts are used to make the different products. Still, I’d like a bit more info on exactly how the hemp is grown.

Third-Party Testing

NuLeaf’s products are tested for potency and contaminants by independent labs. Most of the tests are done by Botanacor, a reputable lab based in Colorado, which has since merged into SC Labs. 

Third-Party Test Results

I always look at third-party lab test results to confirm that CBD companies sell safe, accurate, and effective products. Specifically, I check for:

• The levels of CBD, which should be within 10% of the label (3)
• The levels of minor cannabinoids like CBG and CBC
• The levels of THC
• Whether the CBD type (full, broad-spectrum, or isolate) is accurate
• Whether there are any contaminants

I looked at all the available third-party certificate of analysis (CoA) documents for NuLeaf’s products, finding that most of the products had accurate CBD levels. Additionally, most showed high levels of other cannabinoids, which is good since it means greater effects.

I added two CoA screenshots to give you an idea of the accuracy and effectiveness of NuLeaf’s products:

• The full-spectrum CBD capsules/gummies CoA, showing high minor cannabinoid levels (33%)
• The 60 mg/ml full-spectrum CBN oil report, showing 58.5 mg/ml CBN (2.5% lower) and 10% other cannabinoids

The only issue is that there’s no way to tell how much CBD and other cannabinoids there are per capsule/gummy.

Customer Service & Reputation

Having been around since the beginning of the American CBD industry and accruing over 30,000 positive customer reviews, NuLeaf has a strong reputation. We didn’t have any issues with shipping or anything else.

The only nitpick is that NuLeaf doesn’t provide many details about its process. For example, it would be nice to get more details about exactly how the hemp is grown and the people behind the company.

The Verdict: Potent, Effective Full-Spectrum CBD

NuLeaf Naturals is a popular CBD brand, and for good reason: its products are simple, effective, and affordable. The products we tried produced noticeable effects and we liked the fact that they’re as close to natural as possible. 

I was also impressed by the minor cannabinoid levels and there was only one third-party test that showed less than 10% minor cannabinoids. This is important because cannabinoids work in synergy, so having more of them means greater benefits and effects. 

But NuLeaf Naturals can be more transparent. It feels a bit like a faceless brand because it doesn’t share any details about its team and process and only has a generic mission statement.
