Colorado’s Bloom Hemp offers CBD oil, capsules, and other product types made from USDA-certified organic hemp. Its products are tested by a third-party lab to verify their purity and potency and come in full-spectrum and THC-free formulas.

Summary

Bloom Hemp is a decent company thanks to its USDA-organic hemp source and extensive product lineup. But some products are inaccurate and lack higher-strength options.

Bloom Hemp Overview

Bloom Hemp is a CBD company hailing from Colorado, the heartland of America’s cannabis industry. The company was founded by entrepreneur Thomas Schnakenberg in 2018, shortly after the Farm Bill made hemp federally legal.

The company offers CBD oil, capsules, gummies, topicals, and isolates. Its CBD products are sourced from USDA-certified organic hemp grown on a small family farm in Colorado. 

Better yet, they go through extensive third-party testing for potency, contaminants, and even terpenes.

Bloom Hemp offers popular CBD product types, including full-spectrum tinctures, topicals, capsules, gummies, and pure isolate powder for CBD, CBG, and CBN.

The company also sells hemp seed food products.

CBD Tinctures

Bloom Hemp CBD Tincture

Bloom Hemp’s CBD oil comes in full-spectrum and broad-spectrum (THC-free) varieties. You can choose from three strengths and two flavors (natural or citrus). I like the high levels of minor cannabinoids (over 20%) in these tinctures, which makes them more effective.

Bloom Hemp Essential Tinctures

Bloom Hemp’s essential tinctures take an innovative approach to CBD oil by higher amounts of the minor cannabinoids CBN or CBG as well as other active ingredients.

These full-spectrum tinctures come in three formulas:

• Calming (for sleep & stress): 1290 mg of cannabinoids, a specific blend of terpenes, and popular sleep-supporting herbs: lavender, lemon balm, california poppy, and hops.
• Digestive: 1290 mg of cannabinoids, a terpene blend, and three botanicals that can aid digestion: coriander, brown cumin, and fennel.
• Recovery (for pain and inflammation): 1290 mg of cannabinoids, a blend of terpenes, and anti-inflammatory herbs: turmeric, black cumin seed, and ginger. It also contains black pepper extract (Bioperine) to enhance the absorption of turmeric and other ingredients.

CBD Gummies

These simple vegan CBD gummies come in two varieties:

• Sleep, with added calming, sleep-promoting ingredients melatonin, l-theanine, and passionflower.

CBD Softgels

Similar to its oils, Bloom Hemp offers both full-spectrum and THC-free, broad-spectrum softgels. Third-party tests confirm that they contain significant amounts of minor cannabinoids and terpenes, which is a great sign.

CBD Topicals

Bloom Hemp has five full-spectrum topical products designed for various goals:

• A soothing balm stick designed to moisturize and support skin health
• A muscle freeze roll-on with arnica and methol, formulated to relieve aches

Isolates

If you prefer to save money on CBD or want to make your own preparations, then you might like Bloom Hemp’s isolate powders. These come in three pure cannabinoid varieties: CBD, CBG, and CBN. You get 1 gram of pure isolate per container.

Price

The easiest way to compare the prices of different CBD products to see if you’re getting a good deal is to divide the total cost by the amount of CBD. For example, if you have a 1500 mg CBD oil that costs $100, its price per mg would be 100/1500 = $0.07. 

Bloom Hemp’s prices are pretty close to the average market price for different types of products:

• $0.04–0.07 per mg of CBD for CBD oil
• $0.07 for capsules
• $0.07 for gummies
• $0.04-0.10 for topicals
• $0.02-0.04 for isolates

These prices are a tad lower than average but you can find lower prices from higher quality brands, like Upstate Elevator.

Hemp Source and Extraction Process

Bloom Hemp’s products are sourced from USDA-certified organic hemp grown on a 60-acre family-owned farm in Longmont, Colorado. 

The farm uses sustainable farming methods, such as crop rotation and cover cropping, and the hemp itself is trimmed by hand.

Bloom Hemp uses the ethanol extraction process to extract CBD, which is one of the two main methods of isolating CBD and other active ingredients from hemp. This method is safe and effective.

Did you know? The reason why only some of Bloom Hemp’s products have the USDA organic seal is that many of its products contain one or a few ingredients that aren’t organic-certified. You can only show the seal if all of the ingredients are certified organic by the USDA.

Third-Party Testing 

Bloom Hemp’s products are independently tested by SC Labs (formerly Botanacor), one of the most reputable CBD testing labs in the country. 

The older tests check for both potency (including terpenes) and contaminants. However, the newer tests (2023 and on) only seem to check for the potency.

Third-Party Test Results

I always look at third-party lab test results to confirm that CBD companies sell safe, accurate, and effective products. Specifically, I check for:

• CBD content, which should be within 10% of the label (3)
• The levels of THC and minor cannabinoids like CBG and CBN
• Terpene content (if tested)
• Whether the CBD type (full, broad-spectrum, or isolate) is accurate
• Whether there are any contaminants

While the test results are mostly good, some are outdated, missing contaminant tests, or show more CBD than advertised. Here’s a closer look at the two specific test results:

• The test results for the natural 1200 mg full-spectrum tincture showed 1378 mg of CBD, which is 14% higher. While it’s nice to get more CBD than you paid for, I prefer products that are within 10% of the label. But the tests also found high levels of minor cannabinoids, which is great.
• The test results for the full-spectrum CBD softgels found 37 mg of CBD per softgel instead of the advertised 25 mg, which is almost 50% higher. Again, not the most accurate finding.

All that said, Bloom Hemp’s products look quite effective if you examine the third-party tests because they’re rich in both CBD and minor cannabinoids. But there is room to improve the testing (and product accuracy).

Shipping & Returns

Bloom Hemp ships throughout the United States and offers free shipping on orders over $100. However, the company doesn’t state its return policy.

Customer Service & Reputation

Bloom Hemp isn’t a widely known brand. Still, the dozens of customer reviews on its website are positive, with most customers rating the products 5 out of 5 stars.

When I emailed the company with a question, I got a helpful response within a day. Overall, Bloom Hemp looks like a brand you can trust, even though it’s not as established as leading CBD companies.

My Verdict: Decent Brand With a High-Quality Hemp Source

Bloom Hemp gets my vote of confidence. I like the company’s USDA organic hemp source and straightforward product variety. Most people will be able to find a product that suits their preferences and dosage needs. And although you can find cheaper brands, the prices are reasonable.

Still, Bloom Hemp does have some things to work on. I’d like to see an ultra-potency CBD oil added and full-spectrum gummies. Bloom Hemp also needs to improve its third-party testing, with up-to-date contaminant tests.
