Five CBD Overview
Five CBD is a hemp brand that gets its name from the impressive 5:1 ratio of CBD to minor cannabinoids in its products. This high ratio ensures that full-spectrum CBD products provide the greatest benefits possible by making the most of the cannabis entourage effect.
Third-party tests confirm Five CBD’s claims, showing high minor cannabinoids and in many cases terpenes. In contrast, most of the brands I’ve come across have a much worse ratio: 10:1 or even higher.
Five CBD was founded in 2020 by John Larsen, who is also the co-founder of Medterra, one of the leading American CBD companies. It has some of the lowest prices on the market, especially for the kind of high-quality full-spectrum formulas you’re getting.
CBD Glossary
- Hemp: cannabis variety with high CBD and low THC levels (no more than 0.3%).
- Terpenes: aromatic plant compounds with various beneficial properties (1).
- Minor cannabinoids: CBN, CBG, CBC, and other beneficial cannabinoids found in smaller amounts in hemp. They may work in synergy with CBD.
- Full-spectrum: whole-plant hemp extract containing multiple cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids. This form of CBD is about four times more potent than pure CBD (2).
- Broad-spectrum: whole-plant hemp extract similar to full-spectrum CBD, but with THC removed (may contain trace amounts).
- CBD isolate: pure CBD without any other hemp compounds.
Five CBD Product Lineup
Five CBD makes full-spectrum CBD oil, gummies, capsules, chocolate, and drinks in several flavors and formulations. All products contain at least 20% of minor cannabinoids (a 5:1 ratio of CBD to minor cannabinoids).
For my review, I tested out Five CBD’s 1500 mg citrus full-spectrum CBD oil, dark chocolate, capsules, and gummies.

Five CBD’s full-spectrum CBD oil is available in two flavors: citrus and chocolate mint. Third-party tests confirm that this CBD oil contains at least 20% or more minor cannabinoids as well as multiple terpenes, which is great to see.
My experience: I received and tested the 100 mg/ml citrus tincture, which had a pleasant orange taste. I started to feel more chill, relaxed, and happy within 20 minutes. The effects lasted for at least a few hours.

This product is essentially a capsule version of Five CBD’s oil, except it’s even cheaper. Once again, third-party tests confirm the advertised 5:1 ratio of CBD to minor cannabinoids.
My experience: I took a capsule before bed and it kicked it about 50 minutes later. I started to smile and feel more upbeat and relaxed with a little bit of a high. I had an easier time falling and staying asleep.

Five CBD’s popular full-spectrum gummies come in several formula and flavor varieties:
- Original 25 mg CBD/2 mg THC gummies
- Daily buzz gummies with 25 mg CBD and 5 mg THC for more psychoactive effects (two flavors)
- Sleep gummies (25 mg CBD/2 mg THC or 50 mg CBD/5 mg THC) with 3 mg of melatonin
- Mood THC gummies with 10 mg THC/10 mg CBD and 2 mg CBG or CBN or CBC (three flavors)
Each type of gummy is made with vegan, natural ingredients.
My experience: I tried the original gummies. They were some of the most delicious CBD gummies I’ve ever tasted and had fairly strong and noticeable relaxing and uplifting effects. I’m not surprised they amassed over 5,000 positive reviews relatively quickly.

This delicious full-spectrum CBD chocolate comes in single-square servings. You can choose from sea salt dark chocolate and toffee crunch buzz flavors.
My experience: I got the sea salt dark chocolate version, which tasted absolutely amazing. This is undoubtedly my favorite Five CBD product. I’m a huge chocolate junkie so I’m happy any time I can get CBD in this delicious form. I felt relaxing effects just from one square, whereas two squares made me feel a little high because I’m sensitive to THC.

These tasty CBD drinks contain 2 mg of THC and 2 mg of CBD and come in three flavors: black cherry, guava passionfruit, and grapefruit. The ingredients are straightforward, including natural flavors and carbonated water. While I like the idea — getting a slight buzz from the THC as an alternative to alcohol — the strength is a bit low. I’d prefer to see more CBD to mellow out the THC.
Price & Value
The easiest way to compare the value of CBD products is to divide the total cost by the amount of CBD. For example, if you have a 1500 mg CBD oil that costs $100, its price per milligram (mg) of CBD would be 100/1500 = 7 cents. The prices also vary depending on the type of product.
With Five CBD, you’ll be paying:
- CBD oil: 3 cents per mg of CBD
- Capsules: 2 cents per mg
- Gummies: 2-7 cents per mg
- Chocolate: 6-7 cents per mg
All of these prices are significantly cheaper than the market average. Coupled with the high amount of minor cannabinoids and terpenes in Five CBD’s products, you’re getting great value. On top of that, you can get further savings by buying multi-product bundles, subscribing (30% off), and free shipping over $60.
It’s also nice to see 40% off discounts for military and healthcare workers, and a discount for students and graduates. All in all, Five CBD offers some of the best prices and value out of all the brands I’ve reviewed.

Hemp Source and Production Process
Five CBD doesn’t provide any details about its production process, which is disappointing. I assume the company uses the same hemp source and production process as Medterra since it’s run by the same people. But that’s just a guess.
Third-Party Testing
Five CBD’s products are tested by two reputable labs: Infinite Chemical Analysis Labs and ACS Laboratory. The tests include not just cannabinoid potency and contaminants, but also terpene potency, which is always great to see. The test results are posted on the certificates of analysis (CoA) page.
Third-Party Test Results
I always check third-party lab test results to confirm that CBD companies sell safe, accurate, and effective products. Specifically, I look at:
- CBD content, which should be within 10% of the label (3)
- The levels of THC and minor cannabinoids like CBG and CBN
- Terpene content (if tested)
- Whether the CBD type (full, broad-spectrum, or isolate) is accurate
- Whether there are any contaminants
I looked at the latest CoAs for all Five CBD products, confirming their claims of providing a 5:1 ratio of minor cannabinoids.
The tests also showed that most products contained terpenes, which should be present in a high-quality full-spectrum CBD product. Another awesome thing is that the tests are only a few months old, which is rare in the CBD industry.
I added two CoA screenshots above as an example:
- The 1500 mg citrus CBD oil CoA showed 1666.7 mg of CBD (11% more) and 20% minor cannabinoids, confirming the advertised ratio of at least 5:1. The test also found multiple terpenes, which is a great result for a full-spectrum product.
- The 25 mg CBD/2 mg THC original gummies CoA found accurate CBD (27 mg) and THC (2 mg) levels, as well as 18.4% minor cannabinoids, which is great. But the test didn’t find any terpenes, which Five CBD mentions on the product page.
All in all, Five CBD’s test results are impressive; the only weak point I found is that the tests didn’t find any terpenes in the gummies and chocolate.
Shipping & Returns
Five CBD offers free US shipping on orders above $60 as well as subscription orders. New customers can return one used product for a full refund within 30 days of delivery while existing customers can return unused products.
Customer Service & Reputation
Five CBD is a relatively young brand. It’s also not the most transparent since it has a generic mission statement and doesn’t reveal many details about itself, like the production process and the people behind the company.
But the thousands of customer reviews are overwhelmingly positive.
My Verdict: Potent Full-Spectrum CBD on a Budget
Five CBD offers some of the best affordable CBD products on the market. The only other brands at a similar price point with this level of quality are Lazarus Naturals and Upstate Elevator Supply Co.
Getting full-spectrum CBD products with over 20% minor cannabinoids at Five CBD’s prices is a great deal, plain and simple. Especially when they taste great. I’m also a fan of the up-to-date third-party testing with impressive results.
My only criticism is that Five CBD isn’t the most transparent brand out there. It doesn’t tell us much about its hemp source production process, and the people behind the company.
