Colorado’s Veritas Farms is one of the more well-rounded CBD companies we’ve come across. We like its product variety, impressive third-party test results, and in-house hemp production.

Summary

Veritas is a solid CBD vendor with a few areas to improve on, like making all third-party test results accessible and using better ingredients for gummies.

Veritas Farms Overview

Veritas Farms is a CBD company that does everything under one roof in Pueblo, Colorado. It grows hemp on a 140-acre sustainable farm and extracts it with ethanol to make full-spectrum CBD products.

Founded in 2015, Veritas translates to truth in Latin, highlighting the company’s focus on transparency. That’s why it provides complete third-party lab reports as well as free tours of its farm and facilities. 

The company has something to offer everyone with different product types, formulas, and strengths.

Veritas Farms Product Lineup

You can choose from CBD oil, capsules, gummies, topicals, and pet products. Except for the gummies, all Veritas Farms products contain full-spectrum hemp extract.

Our product reviewer Antonio received the full-spectrum CBD oil, two types of gummies, muscle softgels, and pet CBD oil to test out.

CBD Tinctures

Veritas Farms offers standard full-spectrum CBD tinctures and three special formulas for sleep, stress, and energy.

Full-Spectrum CBD Drops

Veritas’ full-spectrum tinctures are available in four flavors: unflavored, peppermint, strawberry, and watermelon. We like the variety and the high terpene and minor cannabinoid concentrations; third-party tests show 15% minor cannabinoids and five terpenes, which is impressive.

Antonio’s experience: I tried the 1000mg CBD oil. The taste is as expected for an unflavored hemp oil: a bit grassy, but not unpleasant. Over a few days, I consumed two droppers at a time (67 mg CBD). Unfortunately, I didn’t notice any significant results or effects during this period. But one positive aspect of this product is its simplicity, containing only two ingredients: hemp extract and organic coconut oil.

Specialized CBD Tinctures

These full-spectrum CBD tinctures come in three formulas with added ingredients:

• Sleep support, with a bit of added cannabinol (CBN), plus the sleep herbs chamomile and lemon balm
• Energy, with added uplifting cannabigerol (CBG), rosemary, and eucalyptus
• Stress relief, with added green tea, 5-HTP, and theobromine from cocoa beans

Each tincture contains 1000 mg of cannabinoids in total. We like the creativity of these tinctures and solid terpene/minor cannabinoid levels but would prefer an additional high-potency option. 

CBD Capsules

Similar to its oils, Veritas sells standard full-spectrum capsules and those with a specialized formula. 

CBD Softgels

These are your tried-and-true gelatin full-spectrum CBD softgels. We’d like to see a 50 mg strength added.

Specialized CBD Softgels

Similar to Veritas’ specialized CBD oils, these softgels come in 3 formulations:

• Heart health, with added ingredients that may support the heart, including resveratrol, omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, and hops extract
• Immunity boost, with added vitamins C & B6, elderberry, licorice root, ginger root, theobromine, and 15 mg of CBG to support your immune system
• Muscle & joint, with added B vitamins, licorice root, and cordyceps to fight inflammation and support recovery

Again, we like the innovative formulas.

Antonio’s experience: I am training for an ultramarathon this year. I tried Veritas Farms Muscle & Joint Soft Gels, taking three softgels once a day for three days. They were easy to swallow, and I appreciated the inclusion of other wellness ingredients.

However, the soft gels are not organic, and I didn’t notice any significant effects on my muscle or joint pain. It’s difficult to determine whether this is due to the product itself or my other recovery routines, but the ingredients do have known benefits.

CBD Gummies

Peaceful Mind CBD Gummies

These simple gelatin gummies contain pure CBD. These gummies can be better if there are higher strengths and full-spectrum varieties. 

Antonio’s experience: These gummies share the same ingredients as the Sweet Dream Gummies, including sugar, invert sugar, glucose syrup, gelatin, artificial flavoring, and carmine color. I was reluctant to try them due to the ingredients but decided to give them a chance. Unfortunately, just like the Sweet Dream Gummies, I found the taste unappealing and the marshmallow-like texture off-putting.

Peaceful Dreams Melatonin CBD Gummies

Designed to help you sleep, these gummies contain pure CBD combined with 0.6 mg of melatonin. I like the relatively small melatonin dose because smaller doses can actually be more effective and are less likely to cause side effects.

Antonio’s experience: I’m not a fan of the ingredients: sugar, invert sugar, glucose syrup, gelatin, artificial flavoring, and carmine color. I consumed two gummies one time, and unfortunately, I did not want to try them again. The taste was unappealing, and the gummy had a strange marshmallow-like texture that I found off-putting.

CBD Topicals

Veritas offers different kinds of CBD topicals, including creams, salves, balms, roll-ons, massage oil, and lip balm. 

Full-Spectrum CBD Roll-On

The CBD roll-on is designed to soothe and calm by applying it to the temples, neck, shoulders, and forehead. It comes in two formulas:

• Mind, with peppermint and rosemary for mental focus
• Mood, with bergamot and Bulgarian lavender

We like the idea and the portability.

CBD Sports Cream

As you probably guessed, this unscented cream is for workout recovery. It’s simple and effective, although we’d like to see a stronger version added.

Full-Spectrum CBD Salve

Designed for muscle relief, this straightforward full-spectrum CBD salve comes in two strengths and three scents: unscented, lavender eucalyptus, and cooling menthol. 

If you’re looking for optimal relief, we recommend the extra-strength menthol version. 

CBD Lotion

This lavender-scented lotion is designed to support healthy skin. It contains full-spectrum CBD with moisturizing and soothing ingredients like aloe, chamomile, and aloe vera.

Full-Spectrum Lip Balm

Veritas’ lip balm comes in orange creme, watermelon, cherry, and mango flavors. You can buy a single one or a pack of 3.

CBD Balm Stick

This balm stick is a cheaper, simpler alternative to the sports cream for joint & muscle relief. It’s great to see a higher CBD potency and smaller size for easy on-the-go application.

CBD Massage Oil

Massage oil is yet another way to get the topical benefits of CBD. This one has a simple formula of full-spectrum CBD and jojoba oil. 

CBD Pet Products

Dogs can benefit from CBD as well. Veritas sells canine CBD oil, chews, and topical products.

CBD Oil for Dogs

Available in natural, bacon, and chicken flavors, this CBD oil has an appropriate strength for dogs, with the 250 mg version suitable for smaller and 500 mg for larger breeds. We’d like to see an additional strength for extra-large breeds like Rottweilers and Great Pyrenees.

Antonio’s experience: I am a proud dog dad to two active dogs – a 100lb Malinois/Mastiff and a 60lb German Shepherd. Since my dogs are already familiar with hemp oil, incorporating this product into their routine was easy. I administered servings based on their weight for a few days. They tolerated it well without any stomach upset or issues. But I didn’t observe any noticeable differences in their behavior or wellness, which is typical even when using other hemp oil products.

CBD Dog Chews

We like these dog treats because they’re full-spectrum (most pet edibles aren’t) and have a strong dose of 10 mg. They’re available in two varieties:

• Calming bacon-flavored chews with valerian root, a herb with relaxing effects
• Joint care chews with glucosamine and chondroitin, two popular joint health supplements

Paw Rescue Balm

Meant to moisturize and protect your pet’s paws, this balm contains full-spectrum hemp extract alongside calendula, rosemary, and other standard ingredients.

Hot Spot Oil

This unique oil is designed to stop itching and soothe your dog’s hot spots — inflamed, irritated skin areas. It contains a mix of full-spectrum CBD and many oils.

Price & Value

The easiest way to compare the value of CBD products is to divide the total cost by the amount of CBD. For example, if you have a 1500 mg CBD oil that costs $100, its price per milligram (mg) of CBD would be 100/1500 = $0.07. 

You also have to consider that the prices vary by product type.

With Veritas Farms, here’s how much you’re paying per mg of CBD:

• CBD oil: $0.06-0.08 per mg
• Capsules: $0.08-0.10 per mg
• Gummies: $0.03-0.5 per mg
• Topicals: $0.03-0.11 per mg
• Pet products: $0.08-0.10 per mg

Veritas’ prices are considered average or a bit cheaper than average. Its topicals are the cheapest product with the greatest bang for your buck.

All in all, the value is decent, although you can find cheaper products of similar quality elsewhere.

Hemp Source and Production Process

Veritas runs a 140-acre hemp farm in Pueblo Colorado, which is fed by water from the Rocky Mountains. The hemp is grown using sustainable methods such as drip irrigation to conserve water. 

Veritas also measures cannabinoid levels during the growing process to ensure quality control.

The hemp is then harvested with machinery, dried, and ground up for cold ethanol extraction, one of the most popular methods of extracting CBD and other beneficial compounds.

Third-Party Testing

Veritas Farms works with Kaycha Labs, a reputable cannabis & hemp testing lab from Colorado. All products are tested for potency (levels of CBD and other cannabinoids) as well as purity (pesticides, heavy metals, and other potential contaminants).

Most product pages have a direct link to the latest third-party test reports and you can also use the Certificate of Analysis (CoA) finder using your product’s lot number. 

Third-Party Test Results

I always look at third-party lab test results to confirm that CBD companies sell safe, accurate, and effective products. Specifically, I check for:

• The levels of CBD, which should be within 10% of the label (3)
• The levels of minor cannabinoids like CBG (quality full-spectrum products should have at least 10%)
• The levels of THC
• Whether the CBD type (full, broad-spectrum, or isolate) is accurate
• Whether there are any contaminants

We analyzed the third-party certificates of analysis (CoAs) for three products (shown above):

• The 1000 mg full-spectrum CBD oil, showing multiple terpenes and only 3% more CBD than claimed
• The immunity boost softgels, which should have ~15 mg CBG and 17~ mg CBD, and the tests showing about 13.5 mg CBG and 17.4 mg CBD, which is within 10%
• The 1000 mg salve, showing various terpenes and only 8% less CBD than advertised

All three tests were recent and also proved that the products are full-spectrum since they contained THC and other minor cannabinoids. They also showed high levels of minor cannabinoids (over 10%), which is great news since they add to the effectiveness of CBD.

In summary, we’re impressed with the level of testing and the test results of Veritas Farms’ products.

Our Verdict: Solid Option With Room for Improvement

Veritas Farms is an all-around solid brand. It has a good variety of products, including CBD oils of different strengths and flavors, impressive third-party test results, and does everything internally from growing hemp to making the finished products, which is ideal for quality control. 

We also like the innovative CBD tinctures and capsules designed for different benefits.

But Veritas has a few things to work on before we can consider it a top-tier brand. For one, we’d like to see full-spectrum gummies added. We’re also not fans of the gummy ingredients, which are not vegan-friendly and contain less healthy options like glucose syrup and artificial flavoring.

Another minor criticism is that some products are missing third-party lab reports on their pages, which means you won’t be able to see the tests until you buy the product and put in your batch number.
