Canna River Overview
Canna River is a family-owned CBD vendor founded in 2018 in California. It sells high-potency CBD products, including formulas with CBG, CBN, and intoxicating delta-8, delta-9 THC, and HHC.
Everything is made from hemp cultivated in Oregon, one of the best states to grow hemp in, and comes with up-to-date third-party test reports.
Most of Canna River’s products cost around 1 cent or less per mg of cannabinoids, which is incredibly cheap, especially for full-spectrum products. This makes it a great pick for getting the most bang for your buck.
CBD Glossary
- Hemp: cannabis variety with high CBD and low THC levels (no more than 0.3%).
- Terpenes: aromatic plant compounds with various beneficial properties (1).
- Minor cannabinoids: CBN, CBG, CBC, and other beneficial cannabinoids found in smaller amounts in hemp. They may work in synergy with CBD.
- Full-spectrum: whole-plant hemp extract containing multiple cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids. This form of CBD is about four times more potent than pure CBD (2).
- Broad-spectrum: whole-plant hemp extract similar to full-spectrum CBD, but with THC removed (may contain trace amounts).
- CBD isolate: pure CBD without any other hemp compounds.
Canna River CBD Product Lineup
Canna River sells high-potency, full-spectrum & broad-spectrum (THC-free) CBD tinctures in four formulas: classic (CBD), calm (CBD+CBG+CBN), sleep (CBD+CBN), and pain (CBD+CBG).
There are also 100 mg broad-spectrum cannabinoid gummies in the same formulas, CBD balm and lotion, and intoxicating HHC, delta-8 THC, and delta-9 THC gummies, tinctures, and disposable vapes.
For my review, I bought the 7500 mg full-spectrum calm tincture, sleep, and pain gummies.

Canna River’s oils come in full and broad-spectrum (THC-free) versions and four flavors. They’re incredibly potent, which is great to see as many CBD vendors sell tinctures that are too weak.
You can choose from four formulas:
- Classic CBD tincture
- Calm tincture with 5,000-15,000 mg CBD/1250-2500 mg CBN/1250-2500 mg CBG
- Sleep tincture with 5,000-15,000 mg CBD/2500-5000 mg CBN
- Pain tincture with 5,000-15,000 mg CBD/2500-5000 mg CBG
I’m a fan of these because they’re very potent and use the right cannabinoids for each goal: CBN for sleep, CBG for pain relief/daytime focus and energy. But the minor cannabinoids are low: ~4-5% for full-spec, and less than 1% for the broad-spectrum tinctures. I expect high-quality full-spectrum CBD oil to have at least 10% and 5% for broad-spectrum.
My experience: I tried the calm full-spectrum 7500 mg tincture in sweet mint flavor, mostly for sleep. The flavor was really pleasant/sweet and not too strong. I took a full dropper and felt noticeably relaxed and mellow after 15 minutes and had an easier time falling asleep.

Canna River offers the same CBD oil formulas in THC-free gummy form:
- Wellness 100 mg CBD gummies
- Calm 50 mg CBD/25 mg CBN/25 mg CBG gummies
- Pain 50 mg CBD/50 mg CBG gummies
- Sleep 50 mg CBD/50 mg CBN gummies
These vegan gummies come in four flavors: red berry, passion guava orange, pink watermelon, and strawberry mango.
My experience: I tried the red berry CBD/CBG gummies and passion guava CBD/CBN gummies. Both tasted really sweet and delicious, but I liked the passion guava flavor more. The CBG gummies kicked in about 50 minutes later, with two pieces making me feel more uplifted and energetic for a few hours. I took two sleep gummies an hour before bed, and they seemed to help me fall asleep and toss and turn less during the night.
CBD Topicals
CBD Potency | 50-85 mg/ml |

Canna River sells a highly potent CBD balm and lotion. Both contain 1250 mg CBD/1250 mg CBC/1250 mg CBG/1250 mg CBN for a total of 5000 mg of cannabinoids:
- The balm comes in chamomile, lavender, cooling, and warming varieties
- The lotion comes in unscented and rosemary scents
I like the high potency and cooling/warming formulas here.
Intoxicating THC Products
Delta-8 & HHC Disposable Vape Pens and Carts

Total D8/HHC | ~870- 9300 mg |

These potent disposable 2g vape pens and 1-gram cartridges come in two flavors and two formulas:
- Delta-8 THC, the slightly weaker version of regular (delta-9) THC that’s federally legal thanks to a loophole
- Hexahydrocannabinol (HHC), which is also weaker than delta-9 THC and similar in effects to delta-8
Both are available in 18 cannabis-inspired terpene flavors like Wedding Cake and Blue Dream. I like the high potency but would like to see terpene testing added.
THC Gummies
Potency | 25-30 mg |
Gummy Count | 30 |
Total Cannabinoids | 750-900 mg |
Cost per mg | $0.03-0.04 |
Type | Isolate |

Canna River sells delta-9 THC gummies with 10 mg THC/20 mg CBD and delta-8 THC gummies with 25 mg per piece. Both come in seven tasty flavors.

Cost per mg | $0.02 |
Type | Isolate |

If you’re looking for potent psychoactive effects in tincture form, these delta-8 THC and HHC oils are quite strong with 67 mg per ml. Both come in four flavors.
Pet CBD Oil
CBD Potency | 50 mg/ml |
Volume | 30-60 ml |
Total CBD | 1500-3000 mg |
Cost per mg CBD | $0.016 |
Type | Broad-spectrum |

These broad-spectrum CBD oils come in 30-60 ml bottles with 1000-2000 mg of CBD and 500-1000 mg of CBG. I like this high strength for dogs of all sizes, since you can simply give a smaller dog breed fewer drops. You can choose from bacon, chicken, and salmon flavors. But the minor cannabinoid levels (aside from CBG) are a bit low.
Price & Value
The easiest way to compare the value of CBD products is to divide the total cost by the amount of CBD. For example, if you have a 1500 mg CBD oil that costs $100, its price per milligram (mg) of CBD would be 100/1500 = $0.07, which is 7 cents.
You also have to keep in mind that different CBD product categories (oils, capsules, gummies, etc.) vary in price.
Here’s the breakdown of Canna River’s prices:
- CBD oil: 0.5-2 cents per mg of CBD
- CBD gummies: 1 cent per mg
- CBD topicals: 1 cent per mg
- THC/HHC products: 2-4 cents per mg of THC
These prices are much cheaper than the market average for each category, especially for the minor cannabinoid formulas, so you’re getting amazing value with Canna River.
On top of that, there’s free shipping and a 30% discount for veterans, teachers, first responders, and other qualifying groups.
Hemp Source and Extraction Process
Canna River’s hemp is cultivated in Oregon. But it doesn’t provide any more details other than that, like which extraction process is used and other production details. I’d like more transparency here.
Third-Party Testing
Canna River sends its products for third-party testing to Encore Labs, a reputable cannabis testing laboratory based in Pasadena, California.
The tests check for both potency (amounts of CBD and other cannabinoids) and contaminants (heavy metals, pesticides, and more). You can find the latest certificate of analysis (CoA) reports on each product page, plus the dedicated lab reports page.
Third-Party Test Results
I always look at third-party lab test results to confirm that CBD companies sell safe, accurate, and effective products. Specifically, I check for:
- The levels of CBD, which should be within 10% of the label (3)
- The levels of minor cannabinoids like CBG (quality full-spectrum products should have at least 10%)
- The levels of THC
- Whether the CBD type (full, broad-spectrum, or isolate) is accurate
- Whether there are any contaminants
I took a look at the latest test results for all of Canna River’s products. I really like the up-to-date testing.
But many products are a bit low in minor cannabinoids. Also, some products have way more cannabinoids than advertised (20-25% higher), but that can be seen as a good thing.
Here’s a closer look at two product CoAs:
- The 3000 mg full-spectrum CBD oil contains 3570.2 mg, or 19% higher than advertised, and only 4.4% minor cannabinoids, which is low.
- The 50 mg CBD/25 mg CBN/25 mg CBG gummies carry fairly accurate levels (7-13% higher) but the minor cannabinoids aside from these three are basically non-existant.
All in all, I’m pretty happy with these test findings. The accuracy and minor cannabinoid levels can be better, but that is partially offset by the high potency and Canna River’s preference for adding large amounts of CBG and CBN.
Shipping & Returns
Canna River ships throughout the U.S. for free, except for Alaska and Hawaii. It also ship internationally in discreet packages and claim to not having experienced any issues with delivery.
It accepts unopened packages for a return within 7 days of delivery and has a 60-day money-back guarantee.
Customer Service & Reputation
Canna River has over 15,000 mostly positive customer reviews on its website. It also has a plant-a-tree program with theGoodAPI, where one tree is planted for every order.
Having said that, I’d like Canna River to be a bit more transparent. Despite calling itself a family-owned business (unlike many “corporate” CBD brands), the company doesn’t reveal the names or pictures of any founders or staff.
My Verdict: Affordable Brand With Potent Products
I’m a fan of Canna River. Its prices are exceptionally low and the products are very potent, so it’s a great budget pick. The third-party tests are solid, thorough, and up-to-date, and all of the products I tried worked well.
The only major weakness is the broad-spectrum products are low in minor cannabinoids. Most contain only the advertised cannabinoids and little else, which is more like a combination of 2-3 isolates rather than whole-plant hemp extract without THC. As such, the products are less effective than proper broad-spectrum formulas.
Also, it would be nice to have more details about the production process and the people behind the brand. But overall, Canna River is worth it for the value alone.
