We all want to spend as little as possible to get the best product. Does that apply to CBD oil? Can you find a cheap CBD tincture that’s also good?

The short answer is yes. When it comes to CBD oil, a high price does not necessarily mean high quality. There are plenty of effective, affordable options.

But they’re not easy to find. To help you out, I compared and tested dozens of leading brands based on price, efficacy, third-party lab test results, hemp source, potency, and other criteria. Here’s my review of the best options.

5 Best Cheap CBD Oils

I separated my picks for the best affordable CBD oils into five categories to make it easier to find the right fit.

CBD Glossary

  • Hemp: cannabis variety with high CBD and low THC levels (no more than 0.3%).
  • Terpenes: aromatic plant compounds with various beneficial properties (1).
  • Minor cannabinoids: CBN, CBG, CBC, and other beneficial cannabinoids found in smaller amounts in hemp. They may work in synergy with CBD.
  • Full-spectrum: whole-plant hemp extract containing multiple cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids. This form of CBD is about four times more potent than pure CBD (2).
  • Broad-spectrum: whole-plant hemp extract similar to full-spectrum CBD, but with THC removed (may contain trace amounts).
  • CBD isolate: pure CBD without any other hemp compounds.

This USDA-certified organic oil is available in different sizes and flavors (classic, chocolate mint, strawberry lemonade). Lazarus Naturals grows and extracts its own organic hemp in Central Oregon, which is a big bonus for quality control. It also has a 60% off assistance program.

My experience: This is the most effective and affordable CBD oil I’ve ever used. It’s cheap and has stronger effects than most tinctures of equal and often even higher strength. I’m also a fan of the natural hempy taste.

What’s Considered a Cheap CBD Oil?

The easiest way to compare the prices of CBD oil, or any CBD product for that matter, is by the price per milligram (mg) of CBD. For example, if a CBD oil costs $50 and contains 500 mg of CBD, that means you’re paying 50/500 = $0.10 per mg.

So, how much should you pay for cheap CBD oil?

Roughly speaking, the prices of CBD oil can be divided into three tiers:

  • Cheap: $0.01–0.05 per mg
  • Average: $0.06–0.11 per mg
  • High: $0.12+ per mg

That means a cheap CBD oil should cost anywhere from 1 to 4 cents per mg of CBD. However, keep in mind that CBD prices will continue to decrease as time goes on and the industry matures, so we can expect lower prices in the future.

Money-saving tip: To get the best deal when buying CBD oil, get the bottle that contains the most CBD. This significantly reduces the cost per mg of CBD, can sometimes qualify for free shipping, and the tincture will last you much longer before you need another one.

How I Chose These CBD Oils

The main CBD oils I compared and considered for this list.

I’ve used hundreds of CBD oils. For this list, I started out with about 30 affordable brands, and then narrowed it down to 10 CBD oils with the best combination of price and quality. I then narrowed down my options again for my 5 final picks. Here are the criteria I used:

  • Effects (to find the most effective CBD oils)
  • Price (I looked for products with a low price per mg of CBD)
  • Third-party testing (to make sure the CBD levels and other claims are accurate)
  • Type of CBD (Full-spectrum is best but broad-spectrum is needed for people who avoid THC)
  • Product potency (to get the best effects and avoid weak products)
  • Hemp source (quality plants mean an effective CBD extract)
  • Company reputation (to verify the company can be trusted)

  1. None of these are actually cheap. There’s a hemp glut and these prices are still too high. I guess when you get a kickback you have to plug the hand that feeds you. Please research actually good prices. 300mg of CBD is nowhere near worth $40-60. That’s insane.
